Living Room Games responds to Earthdawn Classic announcement

As many have no doubt heard by this time, RedBrick Limited of New Zealand has announced their license to publish (and re-publish) Earthdawn First Edition material. There have been many questions and concerns raised by this news, especially regarding Living Room Games' own future involvement with the Earthdawn line.

First, let us assure you that Living Room Games will continue to create material for the Earthdawn line. We have books for at least the next three years outlined and scheduled for production. In addition, the long-awaited Dragons supplement will soon be entering the final stages of production, Wanderer's Way playtesting is drawing to a close, and production for Dangerous Goods has just started to get under way.

RedBrick Limited's press release did not come as a surprise to us at Living Room Games. Through our continued contact with FASA Corp., we learned of other companies' intentions to license the property some time ago. We applaud RedBrick Limited's willingness to step forward to show their support for this fine game, much like LRG did almost four years ago, and taking what amounts to a fairly substantial risk during this troubled economy.

We understand that this is yet another step to help breathe life back into the Earthdawn line, and for that we fully stand behind FASA's decision to expand the licensing further. Though it appears that the direction RedBrick Limited plans to take with Earthdawn will be different from our own, we will still support them through their endeavors in whatever way we can.

Though it will undoubtedly be confusing to fans at first, we do not believe that having two unique perspectives for the Earthdawn metaplot on the market will be deterimental to the property in the long run. We strongly encourage everyone, both old and new players alike, to support Earthdawn in whatever way they are able to, even if it means choosing to support only one company in the end.

Even with our efforts to expand Living Room Games down other avenues, such as our pending mass-media deal for Digital Burn or our recent acquisition of the Capcom licenses, Eathdawn will remain the heart and soul of our company. We will continue to support the line as best as we can, and our fans can continue to expect Earthdawn books from Living Room Games for years to come.

As always, if anyone has any questions, our ever-diligent Info Guy, Marco Soto (info @ lrgames.com) will always be available to you to address your issues.
