Frequently Asked Questions
Updated: 11/25/2004
1: Who the heck are you folks?!?!
Living Room Games is a group of friends and gamers who took the news of Earthdawn being canceled harder than most. We decided to start our own game company in the hopes of obtaining the rights to print Earthdawn®, as well as come out with our own line of games.
2: Will you guys be accepting writing submissions?
At this point in time, no. We are getting closer to the time when we will be making use of freelance writers, but we haven't reached that point yet. When the time comes, we will "put the word to the streets" and at that time we'll let everyone know what they need to do to apply.
3: Could you look at this thing I wrote anyway?
LRGames is not currently, nor will we ever accept unsolicited writing assignments. When the time comes for us to take advantage of the vast resources of writing talent that exists out there, we will send out assignments with specific guidelines on what we are looking for (as in "write 10,000 words on the overthrow of Thera by the Yeti, be sure to mention a, b, c, and d, etc.")
4: What about art?
We are always on the lookout for new and talented artists. If you or someone you know wants to illustrate for Living Room Games (either in Earthdawn or one of our other products), send an e-mail of introduction to artdirector@lrgames.com. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IMAGES TO THAT ADDRESS. If you have a web page with your art on it, please include the URL in the e-mail of introduction.
If you do not have a web page, you can also send your portfolio on CDR to the following address:

5: Will LRGames be reprinting the old books?
The current plan is to make the old books available in PDF format via the internet. However, this will not be done while the old books are still available through retailers. Once the old books have sold out, we will work with Fasa to bring the old books back in PDF format.
6: How do I get a hold of the old books?
Currently, the only retailer that we know of that has the old books is Stiggy Baby's. They bought out Fasa's back stock when Fasa closed it's doors. We highly recommend visiting Stiggy Baby and seeing what they have. Otherwise, you may be forced to buy a used copy from the various sources (on-line auction pages, old book stores, etc.).
7: When will the next book be out?
We are currently trying for a four book per year schedule. One around the new year, another in spring, another in summer and another in fall. We will be continually updating the Products page with the latest info. And you can find the status of the books in development on the News page.
8: Will Earthdawn and Shadowrun still be linked?
In a word, Yes. FASA sold the rights to Shadowrun to WizKids and we've remained in touch with the Shadowrun staff. Currently there are no crossover plans, but Earthdawn is still the distant past of Shadowrun.
9: I have a question about one of the rules..
We at LRGames hold firm to the rule that a GM is the final judge on all rule questions. Since no game can predict all situations that a character may encounter, we feel that the GM is the best person to make an informed decision on how a rule should be interpreted.
If, however, you have a question about how a rule that is hard to understand, feel free to ask our Answer Guy
10: What distributors will you be shipping through?
All of our distribution is handled through Impressions Advertising & Marketing, however, we sell to all major distributors both in the USA and overseas.
11: Is Earthdawn being translated into other languages?
Currently Earthdawn is being translated into German by the company Games-In. That is the only language available besides English at this time.
12: Are you planning on publishing any City Books?
Yes, we are wanting to provide a more detailed look on some of the more central cities of Barsaive and will, in the future be coming out with comprehensive City Books on certain cities. As for which cities we will be detailing, that's a secret. :)
13: What will happen now that the War is over?
The realm of Earthdawn is about to expand beyond Barsaive. The events of Barsaive at War and Barsaive in Chaos have opened up many opportunities to explore the entire world. However, the problems that Barsaive is currently having will not stop because of this expansion. We hope to gradually expand the setting of Earthdawn while at the same time keeping the focus on the land of Barsaive and her people.
14: What's Earthdawn Classic?
Earthdawn Classic is a product line from RedBrick Limited located in sunny New Zealand. They are not affiliated with LRGames.
15: What does this mean for Living Room Games?
Not much, really. We will contine to publish second edition material for Earthdawn as we have since 2001.
16: Does this mean that there will be two different stories/metaplots?
Yes. RedBrick will have their metaplot and we will have ours. This may be confusing at first, but in the long run it will allow fans a wider latitude in their gaming.
17: Are you guys doing video games now?
Actually the Capcom license will be a tabletop Pen and Paper role-playing game designed around four Capcom video game series.
18: Which four games will be in the Capcom line?
We will be centering the books around Street Fighter, Rival Schools, Final Fight and Dark Stalkers.
19: Does this mean I'll be able to draw up a new fighter, or will I be playing one of the already done characters?
Both . We will be providing stats on all of the characters appear in the games, but we will also provide rules for creating your own street fighter.
20: Can I make up a character from a different game?
Yes. While the powers and special abilities are centered around the Capcom games, you can use them to mimic the powers of other video game fighting characters. With a little imagination, you could create almost any fighting game character.
21: Are you going to use a pre existing rule set or are you going to create your own?
We'll be using pre existing rule sets. The first will be the D20 Open Gaming License.
22: Ugh! D20? So AD&D Capcom?
Actually, the OGL allows for great flexibility in what we do with the rules. Moreso than the standard d20 license. So, we will be shaping the system to work the way we want it to.
23: You said the FIRST will use the D20 OGL. What did you mean by that?
We plan on using multiple rules sets so that you, the player, can pick and chose which rule set best suits you. Right now the only one we have set is the D20 system, but we're looking into a couple of others. As we confirm that we'll be using certain systems, we'll update this answer.
24: So will you be able to create characters under the different systems?
That's the plan. The ultimate dream is to integrate the different rules systems so that a character created under the D20 system can compete against a character from one of the other systems.
25: What about art? Will you be looking for freelance artists for the Capcom license?
We will not be accepting any solicitations for art in any of the Capcom products. We have, as a part of our licensing agreement, access to the Capcom art library. We'll be using official Capcom illustrations to fulfill the majority of our art requirements. Any additional pieces will be specifically commissioned as necessary.
26: Ugh! The same old art that we've seen a million times!
No! It won't be a paste up of the same old art found in the manuals, instead it will be more of an artbook format with full color illustrations directly from CAPCOM's archives.
27: Does this mean I'm going to have to go to a RPG shop to pick up the books?
While we will be selling through our normal distribution channels, we are also working o on getting the books into video game stores such as GameStop and EB Games. However, we're still working on that. Either way, we will be selling them via the web.
28: What's with the Yeti?
The origins of the Yeti remain mysterious. Some sociologists cite climatic changes in Tibet forcing the Yeti to abandon their traditional feeding grounds. Others will tell you that you simply cannot have a city without Yeti. Still, these blase' answers seems to do little to help us understand the Yeti menace in our society today.
29: What Yeti menace?
Don't tell me you're one of those lucky few who have somehow managed to avoid the packs of flesh eating Yeti that roam our streets at will? Well, let me tell you right now, mister, that your luck can't last forever! Why, only recently I personally knew of a slovenly game designer (more than a month late on his submission) who, while tucked snugly away in his suburban apartment, was consumed by a pack of ravenous Yeti! When will the madness end?! When will we stop pretending this problem does not exist?!
30: Preach on Brother! I'm with you! What can I do to tackle the Yeti menace head on?
We here at LRGames are coordinating a nationwide effort to track the Yeti as they move through North America and around the globe. Any Yeti sightings should be reported to us immediately (preferably with photographs). DO NOT approach the Yeti no matter how friendly they act! These creatures are dangerous! Your assistance is appreciated.
31 Ok, so really, what's with the Yeti?
LRGames needed a mascot and what could be a better mascot than an irate, quasi-mythical, stealthy, flesh-eating Tibetan primate? Think about it.
